Ingredients
3 ripe bananas, sliced
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a 9-inch round cake pan, pour melted butter and sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the butter. Arrange banana slices in a single layer on top. Set aside.
3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
4. In a large bowl, beat granulated sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
5. Add buttermilk and vanilla extract to the egg mixture and mix well.
6. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
7. Pour the batter gently over the bananas in the cake pan, spreading evenly.
8. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then carefully invert onto a serving plate.
