Description

This turtle caramel cake combines rich chocolate cake with gooey caramel sauce and crunchy pecans for a truly indulgent dessert everyone will love.


Ingredients

Scale

1 box devil’s food cake mix (plus ingredients as per box)

1 (14 oz) bag caramels, unwrapped

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

½ cup unsalted butter

1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1½ cups chopped pecans, toasted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional: flaky sea salt for topping


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch pan.

2. Prepare cake mix batter as directed.

3. Pour half the batter into pan and bake 15 minutes.

4. Melt caramels, condensed milk, and butter over low heat; stir in vanilla.

5. Pour caramel over cake layer, sprinkle pecans and chocolate chips.

6. Spread remaining batter on top and bake 25-30 minutes until done.

7. Cool completely, top with remaining pecans and chocolate chips.

8. Drizzle extra caramel or sprinkle sea salt if desired.

Notes

For a fudgier cake, try a brownie mix instead of cake mix.

Add sea salt for a sweet and salty contrast.

Use gluten-free cake mix for a gluten-free dessert.
